One of the best species for an emerging young hunter to pursue is the wild turkey. Parents - here’s a great opportunity to take your child hunting for eastern wild turkey on a private family farm in Pike County Illinois! One youth hunter and their parent or guardian will have exclusive access for a 2-day turkey hunt on the 80-acre Jack Lanter Farm. Located between Pittsfield and Nebo Illinois, the farm has been actively managed for deer and other wildlife and holds several turkeys throughout the spring season. Donated by: Jack and Dana Lanter Details: Jack Lanter Farm 16751 Cty Hwy 7 Pike County Illinois Hardin Twp, Sec 31 Hunt Dates: Either March 26-27 or April 2-3, 2022 Access to the property only - no meals or accommodations, but remote tent or RV camping is allowed. This hunt will be guided by National Champion Turkey caller Mike McQuay who will accompany the hunter and their guardian on the farm. Ground blinds will be provided, and the landowner will meet with hunters and provide details of the property and knowledge of turkey movements and use patterns, as well as hunting tips for this property. State of Illinois Requirements for Youth Turkey Hunt: Eligibility: The Spring Youth Turkey Hunt is open only to hunters who have not reached the age of 18 prior to the opening date of the youth season. Hunters must have an apprentice or youth hunting license, or they must have completed a State approved Hunter Education course and have a hunting license, unless exempt. In addition, hunters must have a Habitat Stamp, unless exempt. Hunt is valued at $1,000. All proceeds go to Team LOL.
